Natural areas

Rota possesses numerous natural spaces that are offered as a tourist product, highlighting among them “Los Corrales” (fish pens), declared a Natural Monument of Andalusia since 2001.

The Natural Monument of “Los Corrales” of Rota has obtained the following recognitions:

• Declaration of “Los Corrales” as a Natural Monument of Andalusia, eco-cultural in nature, based on Decree 226/2001 of October 2nd - Department of the Environment of the Government of Andalusia.

• “S” for Tourism Sustainability. It is the first protected natural area in Spain to achieve the 'S for Tourism Sustainability' of the ICTE 2024.

• "Q" for Tourism Quality - Institute for Tourism Quality of Spain (ICTE- Instituto para la Calidad Turística de España). Recognition obtained in December 2018, thanks to compliance with the UNE-ISO 18065 standard, which guarantees a sustainable management system oriented to service and the continuous improvement of the space.

• Site of Community Importance (SCI) of the European Ecological Network “Natura 2000”.

It is worth highlighting also its beaches, the Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden, the pine forests, the coastal interpretation center, the greenway...
